| About the Year 2000 Issue:
Many legacy hardware and software programs use the last two digits of a year, and
automatically sets the century to "19" (e.g. 98 becomes 1998). When
"00" is entered for the year 2000, the date will either be interpreted
incorrectly as 1900 or cause the system to fail. It is likely that most non-compliant
systems will run into problems as early as 9/9/99 as "9999" was/is often
used by programmers to end program runs. In some cases, software and
equipment will need to be replaced.
Questions we've been asked:
1.) Does your company have a Year 2000 compliance project?
- Yes, we are already compliant and have been since March, 1998. All of
our hardware has been bought new since 1993 and BIOS's are guaranteed to be Y-2000
compliant. Also, all software used in our daily business operations have been upgraded to
Y2K capability to avoid interruptions to your services.
2.) Have you assessed the impact your suppliers will have on your
company's operations if they are not YEAR 2000 compliant?
- Most of our suppliers are Y2K compliant. The rest are aware of the
need. We are assured they are currently addressing this issue. We are currently monitoring
this situation with backup plans in place.
3.) Are the products you sell Y2K compliant?
- The only products we sell which could be affected are digital
indicators with time and date functions. GSE indicators with time and date functions are
compliant. Our MS-10 digital indicator does not have time and date functions so is not
affected. If you have bought any other brand of indicator with time and date
functions from us within the past few years, please call 800-899-9988, or e-mail us at:
tech@measurespec.com .
Please give us your make and model number along with your name, your company, and the
approximate date you bought the unit.
4.) Will you ensure that the supply, quality and fitness for use of
your products will not be impaired or interrupted, whether wholly or in part, by the
arrival of the year 2000, or the end of the year 1999, or the occurrence of any leap year?
- As we can only go on the assurances given us by our suppliers, we can
not swear as an absolute fact that some of these concerns won't occur.
However, please be advised that we are doing everything possible, short of physically
inspecting our suppliers' computers, to ensure that you will not be adversely affected.
